One of the best preserved castles of France, Château de Cheverny is a prime example of classical French renaissance architecture – a perfect blend of symmetry, geometry and aesthetic order. The façade and much of the interiors of the castle is made entirely of the stone “bourré”, which hardens and becomes whiter with the passing of centuries. Here, a window opening in the middle of a staircase presents an unintentional optical illusion and displays the family crest coat of arms above.
